Black Holes Wormholes and Time Machines - Jim Al-Khalili
Do you know:- what might happen if you fall into a black hole! -that the Universe does not have an edge! -that the reason it gets dark at night is proof of the Big Bang.

About these books
The four titles mix real science, speculative ideas and claims that mainstream science rejects. A short guide to each:
- The Holographic Universe (Michael Talbot, 1991): a popular book that presents the "holographic" ideas of the physicist David Bohm and the neuroscientist Karl Pribram. Bohm proposed an underlying order of the universe, and Pribram suggested that the brain stores memories in a way similar to a hologram. The two arrived at their ideas independently. Reviewers are divided: some see it as a stimulating introduction, others warn that it should not be your only source. Note that this is different from the "holographic principle" in theoretical physics.
- Black Holes, Wormholes and Time Machines (Jim Al-Khalili, 1999): the most solid title on the list. Al-Khalili is a British physicist and science broadcaster. The book explains, for general readers, the fourth dimension, black holes, wormholes and why time travel is a serious (if unresolved) question in physics.
- Suppressed Inventions and Other Discoveries (Jonathan Eisen): as the post says, it deals mostly with alleged medical cures and technologies that "they" do not want you to know about. We could not verify the book's details. Many such claims have never passed clinical testing, so do not replace medical treatment with any remedy you read about.
- Absolutely Free Energy – Generate Yourself: we found no reliable information about its author or publication. "Free energy" devices that produce more energy than they consume contradict the laws of thermodynamics, and none has been shown to work. Be careful with home electrical projects and with anyone selling plans.
How to read them
- Start with the Al-Khalili book if you want to understand the physics behind the questions.
- Read Talbot as a window into a philosophical debate, not as established science.
- The files are hosted by third parties (Scribd and a PDF on another site). Links may change, and some copies may be shared without the author's permission.
The universe is strange enough without exaggeration. The best of these books remember that.
