Iansã — the name for Oya in Brazilian Candomblé — sculpture at the Catacumba Park, Rio de Janeiro. The warrior goddess in her most fully realized visual form: armed and moving, the wind visibly present in the posture, a being of directed force rather than static authority. The name Iansã may derive from "Iyá Mesàn," "Mother of Nine."
