Ufo sightings reported in Idaho last year

This post collects a news item on UFO reports in Idaho and a short 2016 video from Tamarack, Idaho. According to the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC), there were 97 UFO reports from all corners of Idaho in 2019, up from 42 the year before. One witness described a solid white light over the foothills that sometimes blinked out or surged in brightness. The video, uploaded by a user named boisean G, was filmed on May 28, 2016 near the Tamarack resort, with a phone and then 50x binoculars; the person says the camera was damaged and shows circles. I could not check the footage's content. Here is some background.

About the numbers

  • NUFORC is a private archive founded in 1974. It collects reports from the public and does not investigate or confirm them. Anyone can file one.
  • Counts rise with media attention, with new things in the sky and with easy online forms. Starlink satellite trains, which began appearing in May 2019, are an example of something people wrote in about.
  • A jump from 42 to 97 is a statement about reports, not about what was in the sky.

Idaho and the flying saucer

  • The phrase "flying saucer" has Idaho roots. On June 24, 1947, Kenneth Arnold, a businessman from Boise, reported nine bright objects near Mount Rainier in Washington. Press accounts turned his description into "flying saucers".

Common explanations for lights

  • Bright planets (Venus, Jupiter), aircraft landing lights, balloons, drones and satellites. A steady white light low over hills that "blinks out" may be a plane moving toward or away from the viewer.
  • Circles in phone video are often lens flares or dirt on the lens.

If you see something

  • Note time, direction, height above the horizon and weather. Hold the phone steady or use a tripod. Include a landmark in the frame.

The sky is wide and full of strange light. Most of it has a name, and a little is still waiting for one.

Download them to your phone or computer and send them on WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, Instagram or in any chat with someone you love. Just tap and hold (or right-click) an image to save it. Share the love! ❤️ The four images share one idea, a warm red setting with the greeting written right on the object, so you can send them as they are. The first shows a pink glass candle with a small flame, "Happy Valentine 2026" printed across it, standing on a bed of scattered red petals with golden lights blurred in the dark behind it. The second is a round wooden keepsake with a red ribbon, resting beside two red roses, a lit tea candle and a few small velvet hearts. The third image is simpler and brighter: a large red heart on a pale surface, surrounded by smaller hearts and bits of confetti, with the greeting in white across its middle. The fourth is the softest. A white heart-shaped ta...
