Warning! It's Not The End: Master Sri Akarshana's Predictions For 2020 2021 2022 | Must Prepare Now!

Warning! Its Not The End.. Master Sri Akarshana's Predictions for 2020 2...

This 15-minute video, published in June 2020 by "Master Sri Akarshana," presents predictions for 2020, 2021 and 2022. It claims the Great Awakening has only just begun, and that people who think the pandemic and lockdowns are ending and life will return to normal are wrong. It urges viewers to prepare now. I could not listen to the audio, and I could not verify who the speaker is, so I do not repeat the specific predictions. Those years are behind us now, which gives us a good chance to think about how to judge predictions in general.

The record of famous predictions

  • In 2011, the radio preacher Harold Camping announced the Rapture for May 21 and, when nothing happened, for October 21. Neither came true.
  • The belief that the world would end in December 2012, tied to the Maya calendar, drew worldwide attention. The date passed, and Maya scholars had said the calendar simply started a new cycle.
  • Fears of the Y2K computer bug in 1999 led to huge repair efforts, and few failures followed.

What research says about forecasting

The psychologist Philip Tetlock studied about 28,000 predictions by experts over twenty years. In his book Expert Political Judgment (2005), he reported that the experts did only slightly better than chance, and that the most famous ones were often the least accurate. Later work found that some people, "superforecasters," do better by updating their views often and keeping track of their records.

Questions to ask of any prediction

  • Is it specific? A date, a place and an event can be checked. "Big changes are coming" cannot.
  • Is there a track record? Look at what the person said before and what happened.
  • Is it falsifiable? If every outcome can be read as a success, it says nothing.
  • Who profits? Notice if the video sells courses, readings or products.
  • Does it rely on fear? Urgent warnings in capital letters are designed to make you click.

The Great Awakening

The phrase also names real events: two waves of religious revival in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century America. In New Age talk it means a growing spiritual awareness. That is a hope, not something measured.

Prepare in a sensible way

  • Keep an emergency fund and a few weeks of basic supplies.
  • Look after your health and your sleep.
  • Stay in touch with family and neighbors.
  • Learn a useful skill.
  • Follow guidance from public health authorities.

The future was always uncertain. A calm mind and good habits are the best preparation for any year.
