In 1535, Giorgi was commissioned to write a memorandum for the design of the new Franciscan church of San Francesco della Vigna in Venice, designed by the famous architect Jacopo Sansovino.

In this extraordinary document, which survives as a classic text of architectural theory, Giorgi insisted that the physical dimensions of the church must reflect the musical consonances described in the De Harmonia Mundi. He specified that the width of the nave must be exactly nine paces, and its length must be twenty-seven paces, representing a triple ratio (3:1) that corresponds to the musical interval of the octave and a fifth. The chapel dimensions and the height of the ceiling were similarly calculated according to the ratios of the fourth, the fifth, and the octave.
