The Solidification of Spirit

With the number Four, the Tetrad, we cross the threshold from the abstract into the physical. If the Triad is the surface, the Tetrad is the Tetrahedron—the first three-dimensional solid. This is the heavy, undeniable architecture of manifest reality, governed by the four elements, the four cardinal directions, and the four seasons.

The Pythagoreans swore their highest oaths by the Tetractys because its base, the Tetrad, completes the unfolding of the Monad into the physical world (1+2+3+4=10). It represents justice, stability, and the squaring of accounts. To master the Tetrad is to accept the limitations and the profound responsibilities of inhabiting a flesh-and-blood vessel in a time-bound universe.
