Tarot Cards - Major Arcana - Judgement - 20
REVERSED: Self-doubt, inner critic, ignoring the call
JUDGEMENT DESCRIPTION
The Judgement card shows naked men, women, and children rising from their graves, arms outspread and looking up into the sky. Above, Archangel Gabriel – the Messenger of God – blows his trumpet. The people respond to his call, ready to be judged and to find out if they will be accepted into the heavens or not. In the background is an extensive mountain range, signifying the insurmountable obstacles and the impossibility of avoiding judgement.
Reversed Meaning
Keywords (Reversed): Self-doubt, harsh self-criticism, ignoring the call, fear of accountability, regret.
When Judgement appears reversed, the celestial trumpet sounds, but you pull the coffin lid back over your head. You may be ignoring a profound inner calling due to self-doubt, fear of change, or lingering guilt over past mistakes. Alternatively, it points to harsh, unyielding self-judgment and blaming others, which keeps you trapped in the graveyard of the past.
In major life decisions, the reversal warns that procrastination will only prolong the agony of indecision when destiny is clearly knocking.
Guidance & Remedy: Forgive your past self. Absolve your old mistakes and answer the summons of your soul. Step into your rebirth without looking back.
