In the early 1930s, a distinguished London physician and bacteriologist abandoned a successful Harley Street practice to wander the countryside of Wales, sleeping rough, living in poverty, and spending his days with an intense, eccentric focus: sitting with wildflowers. Not studying them scientifically. Not collecting specimens. Communicating with them — or rather, letting them communicate with him through a sensitivity to their "vibrations" that he described as a form of direct perception. His name was Dr. Edward Bach (1886–1936).
